Academic Planning
Selecting the right courses is an important part of preparing for success in high school and beyond. School counselors work collaboratively with students and families to develop an individualized academic plan that reflects each student's interests, strengths, and future goals.
Throughout high school, counselors assist students with course selection, graduation planning, and updating a four-year academic plan that prepares students for college, careers, military service, and other postsecondary pathways.
Counselors help students:
- Develop and update a four-year academic plan.
- Select courses that align with graduation requirements and future goals.
- Monitor academic progress toward graduation.
- Explore postsecondary pathways and career interests.

Educational Planning Guide
The Educational Planning Guide is the primary resource used by students and families during the annual course selection process. The guide provides detailed descriptions of courses, graduation requirements, and academic pathways to help students make informed decisions about their high school program and future goals.
The Educational Planning Guide is made available to students each January as preparations begin for course selection for the following school year.
Online Course Requests
Each January, students in grades 8–11 submit course requests through the EASD Community Portal.
Before selecting courses, students and families are encouraged to review the Educational Planning Guide and consult with their assigned school counselor.
