Concert Choir

This select ensemble provides students with learning and performance opportunities that focus on musical experiences within the choral media. Areas of emphasis will be comprehensive musicianship (including rhythmic drill, vocalization strategies, and theory concepts) and critical thinking (including listening, aural evaluation, and written response). Course standards are based on the National Standards for Music Education.

All singers participating in the choral program are auditioned for placement. Students are required to attend occasional after school rehearsals and all performances by the Concert Choir. Membership in Concert Choir will be based on audition results and traditional choral balance needs.

Chamber Choir

This course is for students who are interested in advanced choral singing. Students must be members of the Concert Choir in order to audition and be in Chamber Choir. Repertoire includes madrigals, motets, jazz, world music, spirituals, and various popular styles. Students are expected to have solid skills in music reading, vocal projection, vocal technique, blend; and will work to extend and refine these skills. Students are required to attend occasional after school rehearsals and all performances by the Chamber Choir.
